Hands On Assignment 2

     The way I define media and social networking is vastly different. Media to me is a medium of exchange for information, like how money is for goods and services. Media provides the information and we, the consumers, consume it. Social networking is just how networking but through online. Social networking entails making connections with a variety of people through a social media platform to create engagement and spread your goal to people quicker. Social networking is important because lets say for instance you wanted to sell chocolate bars. Would it be faster to try and sell it through a social media platform or going door to door? No doubt, social media will be able to engage you with more people than just your neighborhood. I currently use: TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. I use these sites as a hybrid of professional appearance and connecting with friends. I try to keep my profile as transparent as possible but also making silly posts (but still appropriate) with friends. I try and keep my profile clean and free of anything that an employer may not like. I do this by posting stuff like accepting an award at work, business travel posts, etc. I also still keep it fun by posting stuff about my birthday, a cool vacation I went on, etc. I use all of these sites everyday of my life. They all have different value they bring to my personal life. Snapchat is super quick to communicate with friends and see what friends have been up to. Instagram is where I can post memories I make or big events and is another way I can use to keep up with friends. Facebook has an older demographic and I can talk to my older family members from all over the United States. It also great benefits such as facebook marketplace because I can find very cool items at a very cheap price. Twitter, oddly enough, I use to keep up with news, I have some reputable sources that I get notifications when they tweet, this is mostly with sports. Reddit is an underrated social media platform, they have specific forum groups, I follow all my favorite sport teams, I mainly use it for video game clip research and questions. For Instance, MLB The Show is a game I play a lot, I use Reddit to see new information about the game or ask questions about it. Using social media makes me feel more connected with all my friends and family. Social media makes me feel good about myself when I began going to the gym, a lot of friends and family were leaving comments that they can notice the weight difference in my face. I never really had a bad social media experience personally. I do know some people do because of all these photoshopped fake pictures people post of themselves.#USFLIS4380SMS20
